Do at least one basic drill specific to your position on a daily basis. Running backs are wise to work on ball handling drills every day. Quarterbacks should spend at least an hour a day working on throwing accuracy and arm strengthening. Linebackers need to constantly work on their tackling, as well as shedding blockers.

Always be a good team player. It can be hard to think of the team when you would like to be a star, but you need to. Winning is a team effort. It’ll never happen because of one player alone. The truly great players understand the importance of a team. They know that sum is more important than the individual parts.

Eat a healthy diet when you play football. When your body is fueled correctly it can perform a lot better. Eating healthy proteins, whole grains and fruits and vegetables can help you feel better and play better. Try your best to eat a healthy diet and you’ll find it can enhance your play.

Never take the field without a helmet. Each season, your helmet should be inspected thoroughly. The plastic shell should not have any cracks in it and the padding must be in good condition. It should also have a face mask that properly attaches to the helmet and a chin strap that fastens securely. All this is to be sure to prevent head injuries during play.

You will never achieve your goals by being lazy. When you skip a practice, don’t work out, eat the wrong things or allow your mind to wander, you will end up a loser. If you would rather be a winner, focus on your goals and do what it takes to achieve them.

A great attitude wins games. Even the best players will fail if they are negative or unfocused. If you stay positive, targeting your goals as you play and practice, you will achieve them. Do what it takes to remember why you play in the first place to stay on top of your game.

Prepare your body for the game year round. Even during the off season, you should be paying close attention to your diet and exercise routine. Football is a very physical sport and if you are not in good physical condition, you increase the chance that you will get injured during play.
